I see in Fight Club the strongest and smartest men who ever lived. I see all this potential and I see it squandered. Goddamnit an entire generation! Pumping gas and waiting tables, the slaves with white collars. Advertising has its taste in cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle-children of history, man. No purpose or place; we have no great war, no great depression. Our great war is a spiritual war - our great depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires and movie gods and rock stars, but we won't. We're slowly learning that fact, and we're very, very pissed off.

WE WON TRIVIA!!!! I like winning stuff! Plus I feel oh so smart. Even though this trivia night was a cheating night -- but still we are excellent cheaters! Plus cheating in 60 seconds does require some skill. But we must give credit to APUSH as we had 3 review books and old president sheets. Also, I'd like to thank my mother -- who sat on the phone looking up questions on the internet! Sometimes parents can rock! That combined with lotsa random knowledge of 5 people lead to victory! We even beat these annoying people who always win and tried to rub it in our face when they got a question right and we didn't. We hah! We won! They didn't! And now we got a bigger gift certificate than they did! So yes...I'm in a good mood! Once again I like winning stuff.

Does anyone else ever notice how random and sporadic emotions are? I mean I have gone from really frustrated and mad to so incredibly happy back to mad in a matter of an hour. It's not really a bad thing -- just an observation I've had.

So anyway I'm really happy right now. Everything just seems to be working out. I mean it's not, I still haven't gotten into college and am skipping more than ever, not doing good in any classes etc. Yet I've come to realize that really isn't what's important. School doesn't make me happy no matter how good I'm doing, so I'm not gonna worry about it. I just want to be around the people I care about. They are what matters and they are what make me not only get through the day but enjoy the day. So to all you people who have made me laugh or smile, I thank you. You are what is important in my life, and you are what make me simply enjoy living.

Who think's families should die? I do. According to my parent's I'm the failure of our family. Now you need a little background to understand how pissed this would make me.

Brad- Dropped out of college twice. Stole a church car and ran away from his mission. Can't hold a job. Totalled 3 cars.
Kerry- Dropped out of high school once, kicked out twice. Failed to get her GED 3 times. Ran away multiple times. Fucking crazy and a bitch. Beats up my mom. Druggie. Totalled 1 car twice.
Gillian- Druggie her freshman year. Failing all of her sped fresh. classes. total bitch.
Heather- Dropped out of high school because she was pregnant. Never worked anywhere past a gas station.

These are my brothers and sisters. Yet I'm the failure of the family. The one who not only will graduate high school but do it with honors. Who will go to an alright college. Who has a life possible. Yep, that's the failure because I'm not going to and Ivy school, because I'm not religious (and the rest of my family really is......right.....) because I don't care about the rest of my family (Of course I'm the one that picks em up and drives em home at all hours of the night when they're trashed and I'm the one who hides all the shit they've done from my parents). Oh and even better, I'm disrespectful of my brother because I didn't want to go to his dinner B-day party that they told me about the day of when I already had plans (I even went, plus not a single person in my family even remembered my fucking birthday). Yes, I'm the failure.

Sometimes I worry about my sanity. A bunch of people have heard a story of a certain very stupid thing I've done, but for the rest of you:

I was in the kitchen with my sisters and was going to fill up a cup with water from the door thing on the fridge. Ya know the little hole with the water and ice. Yea so I was talking and wasn't paying much attention (not that I ever am) so I put the cup in the little hole thingy and pressed the button. Water started spewing everywhere and got all over me. Turns out I had the cup upside down so the water could go in the cup. Yea I'm a smart one.

But that happened a couple of years ago, and you'd think I'd start improving after that. Hah! Well the reason I thought of that is today I did the exact same thing!!! Man, this is one of those times I worry myself!

Being the big dork I am with too much spare time on my hands I watched both of the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings movies this week....and I've started having the interior battle of which is better (books, not movies, LoTR obviously wins movies). How is one to decide?? I mean on the one hand there is Lord of the Rings which amazing and in depth books I've read. I mean there is a history probably greater than the real history of earth, Tolkien has created all these cultures and languages from nothing without missing a single detail. And all of that is able to get across through the telling of a very interesting and plot driven story. Then there are even moral-ish type issues in the book. The quote that we have only to decide what is to do with the time that is given us, the stuggle of how much power is too much, the racial issues and so more make it much more than a simple fantasy book.

But then there is Harry Potter. I am one person who will defend to the day I die that these aren't simple children's books. Rowling also creates a very complex world full of Quidditch games, Chocolate Frogs, and Snape's potions class. While not as complex as Tolkien...it is still an amazing creation. A lot of the same moral issues are dealt with here as in LoTR (the evil of power, pure-blood v. mudbloods, etc.) But one thing that makes Harry Potter unique is what I'll call character development but is really much more. Harry Potter has made me laugh and cry more than any other book because I know the characters. When Harry is in a fight with Ron you really feel for him. It's something all authors strive to accomplish and not many have been able to do as well as Rowling.

So you may ask why I have even tried to pick the best. Well I wouldn't try to do that...you just can't compare them. But what I was trying to do was to decide what calander to buy. Yes, I'm a dork...this I know. But really...can I compare them...can I choose?? It just doesn't seem possible.

So I was talking to my mom about how she should stop reading trashy murder mystery books and you know what she said:
"Well Lord of the Rings is just a complex trashy fantasy!"

I died.

To laugh often and much
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty,
To find the best in others,
To leave the world a bit better,
Whether by a healthy child, a garden patchs, or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.

This is to have succeded.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Yes I'm in a everything is grand, I love life and the world mood so this seems to apply...ah it's so simple yet seems so true...
